Lead Consultant - Java Backend - Locals Only
Location: Newark, CA
Duration: 6+ Months
About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Lead Consultant / Java Backend Engineer with strong experience in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, system design, and distributed systems. The person should be able to lead technical design while remaining actively involved in coding.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable Java/Spring Boot microservices.
- Lead backend system design and architecture.
- Design and build REST APIs and distributed services.
- Work with Kafka, caching, messaging, and event-driven systems.
- Improve scalability, performance, reliability, and fault tolerance.
- Work with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and databases.
- Support backend migration and modernization initiatives.
- Participate in hands-on coding, troubleshooting, and technical reviews.
Required Skills
- 10+ years of backend/software engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on Java and Spring Boot.
- Strong Microservices and System Design experience.
- Strong REST API development experience.
- Experience with Kafka and distributed systems.
- Good knowledge of AWS/cloud architecture.
- Experience with Docker/Kubernetes.
- Strong coding, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills.
- Experience with OpenAPI/code generation tools is preferred.
