Job Title: Business Analyst
Location: Spartanburg, SC 29303
Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite with light travel to County offices/facilities
Duration: 12 Months
Key Responsibilities
- Lead discovery sessions, interviews, and workshops with IT teams and County stakeholders.
- Inventory existing technical, operational, security, application, infrastructure, system, and recovery documentation.
- Document current-state business and IT processes, workflows, roles, dependencies, handoffs, and pain points.
- Create process maps, workflow diagrams, data/process flows, inventories, matrices, and analysis artifacts using Microsoft Visio and Microsoft 365.
- Identify documentation gaps, process risks, inconsistencies, single points of knowledge, and opportunities for standardization.
- Gather and prioritize requirements for SOPs, runbooks, knowledge articles, system documentation, and recovery documentation.
- Translate technical SME knowledge into structured documentation inputs.
- Facilitate review and validation sessions with stakeholders.
- Maintain documentation backlog, priorities, ownership, dependencies, and status.
- Support documentation standards, templates, governance, repository organization, ownership, and review cycles.
Required Skills
- 10+ years of Business Analysis experience in complex IT or technology environments.
- Strong requirements elicitation, interviewing, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365, including:
- Word
- Excel
- PowerPoint
- Teams
- SharePoint
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Visio for process mapping, workflow documentation, and technical/business diagrams.
- Experience working with technical SMEs across infrastructure, applications, service delivery, cybersecurity, or similar IT disciplines.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Business, or related field, OR equivalent relevant professional experience.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with documentation recovery, knowledge management, IT operational maturity, or process standardization.
- Experience documenting cybersecurity, infrastructure, disaster recovery, business continuity, or IT service-management processes.
- Experience with SharePoint-based documentation repositories and governance.
- Familiarity with ITIL, NIST, CIS, or other recognized IT/security frameworks.
- Government or other highly regulated environment experience.
- CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, PMP, ITIL Foundation , or comparable professional certification preferred.
Work-Product / Portfolio Requirement
Candidates should be prepared to provide sanitized examples of previous BA deliverables, such as:
- Process maps
- Workflow diagrams
- Requirements documents
- Current-state assessments
- Documentation inventories
- Matrices or comparable BA artifacts
Portfolio quality and the candidate's ability to explain how the work was developed will be an important part of the selection process.
