Senior Automation Engineer with Ansible

Location: Woodlawn, MD

Onsite: 5 Days/Week

Interview: In-Person

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant IT experience
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Ansible, including production-grade playbooks, roles, collections, templates, and reusable automation
  • Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), including administration and development
  • Strong AWS engineering experience
  • Experience designing, provisioning, configuring, and troubleshooting AWS infrastructure
  • Hands-on experience developing AWS CloudFormation templates and stacks
  • Experience using Ansible or similar automation tools to provision and manage AWS resources
  • Strong understanding of AWS infrastructure including VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, IAM, compute, storage, and related services
  • Strong Linux systems administration and engineering experience, preferably with Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • Experience with Linux patching, package management, authentication, networking, storage, SELinux, and firewalls
  • Proficiency with Python for infrastructure automation, scripting, APIs, and integrations
  • Experience with source control, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and unit testing
  • Experience building and maintaining containerized execution environments
  • Experience with Red Hat Satellite and Linux lifecycle/patch management
  • Experience with Linux identity and authentication technologies such as Red Hat IdM/FreeIPA
  • Ability to independently own complex technical assignments with minimal supervision

Preferred Experience:

  • AWS Systems Manager and patch-management automation
  • STIG implementation, remediation, or compliance validation
  • FIPS-enabled environments
  • Large-scale enterprise Linux and AWS environments
  • Federal government, regulated, or security-sensitive environments
  • Red Hat, Ansible, Linux, Python, or AWS certifications

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise automation using Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform.
  • Develop Ansible playbooks, roles, collections, templates, job templates, and workflows for Linux and AWS infrastructure.
  • Develop automation for AWS networking, compute, storage, security, and supporting services.
  • Administer AAP inventories, credentials, RBAC, organizations, job templates, workflows, execution environments, and Ansible Builder.
  • Automate Linux provisioning, configuration management, patching, security hardening, authentication, networking, storage, SELinux, and firewall management.
  • Integrate Red Hat Satellite with Linux management and automation workflows.
  • Build and customize containerized execution environments.
  • Develop automated tests and integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Develop patch-management automation using AWS Systems Manager.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across AWS, Linux, networking, authentication, storage, security, and application dependencies.
