Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer to join the ITD Tolling Engineering and Operations Team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing Azure cloud resources, monitoring applications, troubleshooting production issues, and ensuring cloud security, governance, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement, maintain, and support cloud resources within the Azure environment.
- Manage and support Azure App Services, API Gateways, Azure Functions, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Monitor application performance and availability using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, logs, metrics, and traces.
- Troubleshoot cloud connectivity, access, security, and application performance issues.
- Administer Microsoft Entra ID, Single Sign-On (SSO), IAM, role assignments, and least-privilege access.
- Manage Azure Key Vault, certificates, passwords, and secure credential storage.
- Support cloud governance, cost optimization, tagging standards, and Virginia government security policies.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure documentation, network diagrams, system topologies, and operational procedures.
- Participate in incident management, root-cause analysis, maintenance activities, and production support.
- Prepare change requests, implementation plans, and rollback procedures.
- Support system integrations, data movement, and PCI compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, DBAs, and cross-functional teams to optimize Azure solutions.
- Provide rotational help-desk and off-hours operational support as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services.
- Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
- Experience administering Microsoft 365 / Office 365 services and Entra ID SSO.
- Strong scripting skills in PowerShell and/or Python.
- Experience working in Windows environments.
- Knowledge of cloud security, IAM, networking, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Power Apps.
- Ability to create and maintain network diagrams, system topology documentation, and technical documentation.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Microsoft Azure certifications.
- Experience with Azure governance, high availability, fault tolerance, and cloud cost management.
- Knowledge of PCI compliance and secure cloud operations.
- Experience supporting production applications and enterprise cloud environments.
Additional Requirements:
- 100% Remote - Candidates must be local to Virginia.
- Fingerprint-based background check is required.
- Willingness to provide off-hours support when needed.
- Candidates must maintain relevant technical knowledge through continued education at their own expense.
