Position Details:

Job Title: Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Private Cloud & Virtualization

Location: Fort Worth, TX (Hybrid: 3 days onsite)

Duration: 12+ months contract with extension

Job Description:

  • The main function of a software engineer is to apply the principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the software and systems that make computers work.
  • Designs, develops and tests operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for medical, industrial, military, communications, aerospace, business, scientific and general computing applications.
  • The technical skills include the ability to apply principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field required.
  • 5 to 7 years' experience required.

Responsibility level:

  • Exercises independent judgment with direction from supervisor.

Skills:

  • Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills (Required).
  • Ability to work independently and manage one's time (Required).
  • Basic mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback (Required).
  • Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery (Required).
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issues.
  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment and computer hardware and software (Required).
  • Knowledge of computer development software as it relates to systems, such as SQL, VisualBasic, etc. (Required)

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Modify existing databases and database management systems.
  • Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions.
  • Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations.
  • Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.

Specifically:

  • VMware or similar stack - VCF, vSphere, VCSA, vSAN, SRM, vROPS, LogInsight & vRA
  • Private cloud and virtualization (Kubernetes/Virtualization) on-prem/cloud bursting
  • Services - TCP/IP, DNS, FTP/SFTP, SMTP, SMB, DHCP, SSH, SNMP, API
  • Telemetry - Dynatrace, VMware Log Insight and VMware vROPS
  • Scripting - BASH, PowerShell, Python
  • Infra as code - Ansible, Terraform, Packer, Git
  • OS - Ubuntu (22, 24, 26), RHEL (8, 9, 10), Windows Server/Core (2019, 2022, 2025)
  • Hardware - HP Proliant, SAN/NAS

Pay Range: $40 - $44/hr. on W2

The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
