Project Manager III

Hybrid - Reston, VA OR Washington, DC - 2-3 days per week

Position: Project Manager III

Responsible for managing projects, on a defined workstream within a larger program, in accordance with contractual requirements and company policies, procedures, and guidelines. Working under the overall direction of the Program Manager, leads project planning and execution across the software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, testing, release readiness, deployment, and user adoption. Coordinates cross-functional teams and support resources; maintains work plans, schedules, issues, risks, dependencies, decisions, and user requirements; prepares clear status reports; facilitates Scrum ceremonies and issue-resolution meetings; and supports timely delivery against project objectives. The role also coordinates and supports user onboarding activities, including communications, training, access, readiness, support, and adoption.

Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate combines strong project management discipline with practical experience delivering enterprise technology solutions. The candidate should be effective in SDLC release coordination, Agile delivery, requirements management, user onboarding, and collaboration with engineering and business teams. Working familiarity with data engineering concepts and Python is beneficial for understanding the financial modeling system and communicating with technical teams, but advanced development expertise is not required. Experience managing financial modeling systems or technology initiatives in the financial services industry is highly desirable.

  • Project management: 5+ years managing technology projects and 7+ years of progressive IT experience, including project planning, schedule management, delivery governance, issue and risk management, dependency management, and executive status reporting
  • SDLC and release management: Experience coordinating requirements, design, development, testing, release readiness, deployment, production transition, and post-release follow-up across the software development lifecycle
  • Scrum Master responsibilities: Experience facilitating sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives, impediment removal, and coordination across Agile teams
  • Jira: Proficiency using Jira to manage backlogs, stories, tasks, defects, sprint progress, dependencies, risks, and delivery metrics
  • Confluence: Experience organizing and maintaining Confluence pages for project documentation, requirements, decisions, meeting notes, release information, and team communications
  • Requirements management: Ability to capture, organize, prioritize, trace, and track user requirements, decisions, issues, risks, and dependencies throughout delivery
  • User onboarding and adoption: Experience coordinating communications, training, access, readiness, support, and adoption for a new system
  • Delivery leadership: Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams, facilitate decisions, resolve delivery issues, and manage projects of comparable scope and complexity under the direction of a Program Manager
  • Microsoft Excel: Good working skills for analysis, reconciliation, requirements tracking, project controls, and reporting
  • Technical familiarity: Working knowledge of data engineering concepts, SQL, data pipelines, and Python sufficient to understand technical discussions, dependencies, testing needs, and production issues; advanced engineering or development expertise is not required
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, relationship-building, facilitation, and attention to detail
  • Education and certification: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field;
  • MP and Scrum Master certification preferred
  • Industry experience: Financial services experience, particularly supporting financial modeling systems, is highly desirable
