Job Summary
The Clayton State University (CSU) Information & Technology Services (ITS) team is seeking a Network Engineer who is committed to service excellence to join its Infrastructure team. In this role, you will support the design, installation, and ongoing maintenance of the University's network infrastructure. Working under the guidance of senior engineering staff, you will help ensure a stable, secure, and high-performing network environment that meets the needs of faculty, staff, and students.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of network equipment, including routers, switches, wireless access points, and network access control systems.
- Monitor network performance, including traffic, capacity, and utilization, and assist in identifying and resolving performance issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues and service outages.
- Install, maintain, and support structured cabling systems, including fiber-optic and copper infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and equipment inventories.
- Perform routine system maintenance, hardware upgrades, and equipment support.
- Assist with the implementation of network projects and infrastructure enhancements.
- Support network security initiatives and compliance requirements.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and business continuity efforts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Two to three years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry certifications (e.g., Network+, CCNA).
- Higher education or enterprise IT experience.
- Exposure to cloud networking technologies.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Demonstrated foundational knowledge of networking protocols, concepts, and security principles.
- Familiarity with network technologies, architectures, and configuration practices.
- Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to network infrastructure and connectivity issues.
- Exposure to Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems; experience with Microsoft Teams.
- Understanding of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Visio and IT service management (ITSM) tools.

Other Information
- Standard schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on-site; flexible start and end times are available.
- On-call and after-hours support, as required, to ensure service continuity and support system maintenance.
