Job Summary

As a Transaction Monitoring Analyst (L1), you will be responsible for the first level of review in the transaction monitoring process. The role involves reviewing high-volume transaction monitoring alerts, analyzing customer and transaction information, clearing risk-irrelevant alerts, and escalating potentially suspicious or higher-risk activity for further investigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review transaction monitoring alerts using established procedures and playbooks.
  • Review customer KYC profiles, risk ratings, transaction history, and account information.
  • Perform initial risk assessments and identify potentially suspicious activity.
  • Clear alerts that meet predefined risk-irrelevant criteria with proper documentation.
  • Escalate unusual, complex, or higher-risk alerts to L2 Analysts.
  • Maintain accurate and complete case documentation.
  • Work closely with L2 Analysts, Team Leads, Compliance, QA, and Audit teams.
  • Meet quality, productivity, and turnaround-time expectations in a high-volume environment.
  • Identify recurring issues and contribute to process improvements.

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of AML/CFT and transaction monitoring principles.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Law, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in AML, Transaction Monitoring, Financial Crime, KYC/CDD, or related banking operations.
  • Candidates with relevant academic backgrounds and transferable knowledge may also be considered.
  • Basic understanding of AML/CFT and transaction monitoring principles.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment.
