Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join a growing North Jersey legal team. The ideal candidate will have 3-8 years of insurance defense litigation experience and be comfortable independently managing a litigation caseload.

Experience handling New Jersey automobile liability matters is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage insurance defense matters from inception through resolution

• Draft pleadings, discovery, motions, briefs, reports and other litigation documents

• Conduct and defend depositions

• Handle motion practice and court appearances

• Participate in arbitrations and mediations

• Prepare matters for trial

• Handle automobile liability matters under New Jersey law

• Conduct legal research and prepare persuasive legal briefs and memoranda

• Maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers, claims professionals and corporate clients

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

• Active New Jersey Bar License

• 3-8 years of insurance defense litigation experience

• Ability to independently manage litigation matters

• Experience with pleadings, discovery, depositions and motion practice

• Strong legal research, writing and oral advocacy skills

Preferred Qualifications

• New Jersey automobile liability defense experience

• Experience representing insurance carriers or self-insured entities

• Arbitration, mediation, trial or courtroom experience

• Premises liability experience

• Existing relationships with insurance carriers or claims professionals

Work Environment

Flexible hybrid. New attorneys are generally expected to work 2-3 days per week in the Jersey City office initially.
