Lead Reliability Test & Automation Architect
Location: Irvine, CA Onsite

Position Overview
We are seeking a Lead Reliability Test & Automation Architect to provide technical leadership for reliability testing, test-system architecture, and automation initiatives for complex engineered products.
The ideal candidate will combine strong reliability engineering, test automation, instrumentation, test fixture, and systems engineering experience with excellent customer-facing and technical leadership capabilities.
Experience with medical devices or other regulated products is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical interface between customer stakeholders and engineering teams.
- Lead technical discussions, workshops, requirements gathering, and solution-definition activities.
- Collaborate with Product, Systems, Reliability, Test, Quality, Laboratory, Manufacturing, Service, IT, and Procurement teams.
- Understand product architecture, test objectives, operating profiles, interfaces, constraints, standards, and approval requirements.
- Define high-level test fixture and test automation architectures, including DUT, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, firmware, software, data, safety, and infrastructure interfaces.
- Lead technical evaluation of existing test assets, reuse opportunities, modifications, and new development.
- Coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, Firmware/Automation, and Reliability engineering teams.
- Review and consolidate technical inputs into a comprehensive test-system solution.
- Define requirements, interfaces, assumptions, risks, dependencies, and technical decisions.
- Lead preparation of WBS, resource plans, schedules, effort estimates, risks, assumptions, and implementation roadmaps.
- Conduct technical reviews and ensure alignment across cross-functional engineering teams.
- Present technical recommendations and solutions to customer stakeholders.
- Drive closure of technical questions, action items, and scoping deliverables.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of engineering experience with strong reliability and test-system background.
- Strong experience in Reliability Engineering and Product Reliability Testing.
- Experience with test-system architecture and test automation.
- Strong understanding of mechanical test fixtures, electrical instrumentation, DAQ, and automated test systems.
- Understanding of embedded systems, firmware, hardware, and electrical interfaces.
- Experience with requirements management, interface definition, trade-off analysis, and risk management.
- Strong technical documentation and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated customer-facing technical leadership experience.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional or offshore engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical device, healthcare, laboratory, or other regulated-product development experience.
- Experience with LabVIEW, NI TestStand, Python, MATLAB, or similar test automation technologies.
- Experience with reliability qualification, environmental testing, life testing, or accelerated reliability testing.
- Experience working with hardware/software/firmware integration and complex test infrastructure.
