Senior Application Developer (API Management & SOA Platforms)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced, communicative, and technically accomplished Senior Application Developer to join our Infrastructure, Platforms & Operations portfolio team. In this role, you will develop and maintain robust APIs for multiple lines of business within an efficient Agile SDLC while acting as a core advocate for our enterprise API Management platform. You will partner directly with application developers, architects, and business analysts to evangelize SOA best practices focused on scalability, maintainability, and code reuse.
This is a long-term contract engagement running through December 31, 2027, for a software professional who thrives in a collaborative, rapidly evolving environment. You will accelerate customer adoption, increase platform engagement, and leverage your expertise in microservices and API gateways to deliver secure, reliable IT products and services. Key Responsibilities
API Development & Platform Advocacy
API Lifecycle Management: Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable APIs and microservices across multiple lines of business using enterprise API gateway platforms.
P latform Evangelism: Partner with and enable internal application developers to adopt Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) best practices, focusing on performance, system resilience, and code reuse.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Architects, Engineers, Business Analysts, and Service Managers in a fast-paced environment to align technology delivery with business strategy.
Operational Support: Participate in operational support rotations, diagnose and resolve integration issues, and ensure high availability across API ecosystems.
Quality & Delivery
Agile Execution: Deliver software solutions within an efficient Agile SDLC, participating in backlog grooming, sprint planning, and cross-team code reviews.
Quality Assurance: Ensure high standards of code quality, performance optimization, and rigorous testing throughout the application development lifecycle.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Citizenship / Work Status: U.S. Citizenship or is strictly required due to background check and vetting policies.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical work experience).
Experience Baseline: Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience spanning programming, analysis, software design, development implementation, QA, and application support.
Technical Mastery:
oPractical, hands-on experience and deep knowledge of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), Microservices, and API Gateways.
oDemonstrated development experience with at least one major API gateway technology (e.g., MuleSoft, Apigee Edge, 3Scale, CA Technologies, TIBCO Mashery, Axway, or IBM API Gateway).
Clearance Requirement: Ability to successfully undergo and clear required background check vetting (e.g., Peraton Moderate risk screening).
Core Competencies: Stellar leadership, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills; proven ability to learn complex business domains quickly and manage competing priorities.
Preferred Attributes
Prior software engineering experience within the financial services industry or highly regulated enterprise environments.
Strong background supporting distributed microservice architectures in cloud or hybrid environments.
