Job Overview:
LPL Financial is seeking a leader to oversee Observability Engineering and Operations Monitoring capabilities across the enterprise. This role is responsible for leading and developing a team focused on monitoring strategy, platform engineering, operational intake, incident support, and observability practices that improve system reliability, performance, and operational effectiveness. The successful candidate will partner across technology teams to implement scalable monitoring solutions and support LPL's hybrid and cloud-based technology ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and develop the Operations Monitoring team while fostering engagement, accountability, and collaboration.
- Participate in the development and execution of Technology Operations strategies related to monitoring, operational intake, infrastructure, and day-to-day operations.
- Oversee the design, implementation, documentation, security, and ongoing support of enterprise monitoring platforms and services.
- Establish and maintain operational procedures, resource plans, and support schedules for monitoring tools and services.
- Support production incident management activities, including escalation, communication, coordination, and resolution efforts.
- Partner with Technology Operations leadership to evaluate and recommend monitoring technologies that support business and technology objectives.
- Develop and enhance operational intake processes to ensure effective end-to-end monitoring, problem detection, root cause identification, and incident response.
- Implement and maintain governance, policies, procedures, access controls, and service catalog processes for monitoring platforms.
- Provide monitoring support capabilities across applications, infrastructure, cloud environments, and hardware platforms.
- Research emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve operational efficiency, scalability, flexibility, and cost effectiveness.
- Monitor industry trends and advise technology leadership on relevant technologies and operational practices.
- Provide support during after-hours deployments, maintenance activities, and critical production events as required.

Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience managing and directing IT operations, including infrastructure planning and development.
- Dynatrace Administrator Certification.
- Experience with Dynatrace, AWS, ELK, systems design methodologies, enterprise applications, web-based systems, data communications technologies, application frameworks, Agile development practices, open-source technologies, business intelligence, and data analytics.
- Experience monitoring cloud computing technologies, including AWS Lambda, AWS Fargate, AWS Glue, and Amazon EC2.
- Experience with observability and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices and technologies.

- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to identify and evaluate technical risks and opportunities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing business needs.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies.
Preferences:
- Cross-platform experience and certifications in cloud, Windows Server, Linux/AIX, networking, virtualization, database, and storage technologies.
- Experience with metrics, logging, and observability platforms such as SolarWinds, ELK, and Grafana.
- Experience with ITOM integrations and single-pane-of-glass solutions, including ServiceNow.
- Experience with AIOps platforms such as BigPanda, Moogsoft, ServiceNow, or Elastic.
- Experience with middleware and data service technologies including F5, Tibco, Kafka, DataPower, MuleSoft, caching platforms, MapR, ForgeRock, and WorkFusion.
Pay Range:
$113,609.00 - $189,314.00
Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
