About the job

Lead, develop and help build a team of engineers and designers supporting low-voltage products and projects.

Provide engineering leadership for low-voltage switchgear, switchboards, power distribution equipment, controls and related electrical systems.

Manage engineering projects from initial requirements and design through drawing release, manufacturing, testing and delivery.

Establish project priorities, engineering schedules, workloads and deliverables while ensuring commitments are met.

Work closely with manufacturing and spend time on the production floor to understand issues, resolve engineering challenges and ensure designs can be successfully manufactured.

Review project requirements, drawings, bills of material, components and standard product packages while providing direction to engineering and design personnel.

Partner with manufacturing, operations, project management, sales, estimating and the broader Sparkstone engineering organization.

Coordinate closely with engineering leadership and teams in Chicago to maintain consistency, share resources and support company-wide engineering initiatives.

Develop and improve engineering processes, standards and repeatable product packages as the Houston operation continues to grow.

Utilize ERP and related business systems to support engineering, materials, project execution and manufacturing workflows.

Participate in customer discussions when technical engineering support is required. While this position will not serve as the primary face of the company, the Engineering Manager must be comfortable communicating with customers and explaining technical issues, project requirements and solutions.
