Position Title: Commercial Electrical Project Engineer

A growing commercial electrical contractor is seeking a Commercial Electrical Project Engineer to support project management, construction coordination, procurement, and estimating for large-scale electrical construction projects. This role will work closely with project managers to coordinate material submittals, manage RFIs and change orders, track project schedules, communicate with vendors, and ensure successful project execution across municipal, commercial, and public works projects.

The ideal candidate has 2-5+ years of commercial electrical construction experience, a strong understanding of electrical installations, and the organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys hands-on project involvement, values collaboration, and wants to grow within a stable, family-owned company.

Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000 / annually, DOE

Responsibilities

  • Support project managers in coordinating commercial electrical construction projects from planning through completion
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and project scopes to ensure accurate execution
  • Prepare and track material submittals, RFIs, change orders, project schedules, and construction documentation
  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, vendors, inspectors, and clients to maintain project timelines and deliverables
  • Solicit and evaluate quotes for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted services while supporting procurement activities
  • Assist with project estimating, change order pricing, and cost tracking using electrical estimating software
  • Conduct periodic jobsite visits, monitor project progress, and proactively address scheduling, material availability, and supply chain challenges

Requirements

  • 2-5+ years of experience in commercial electrical construction, electrical contracting, or project engineering with significant electrical project exposure
  • Strong understanding of electrical installations, construction processes, and project management fundamentals
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bills of materials
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, Adobe, Microsoft Office, and ERP or procurement systems
  • Familiarity with electrical estimating concepts, change orders, and estimating software such as Accubid or McCormick
  • Excellent organizational, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to travel to local job sites as needed
