Position Overview
We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Automotive Engineers & Technical Specialists to join our cross-functional engineering teams in Michigan. This single requisition covers multiple open roles across Vehicle Attributes, Systems Engineering, Powertrain, Quality & Warranty, Materials, and Component Design.

Available Functional Tracks & Core Focus Areas
1. Thermal, Safety & Vehicle Attribute Engineering
- Thermal Performance Engineer: Ensure vehicle functional objectives, conduct simulation and test reviews, manage cooling systems, execute DVP&R, data acquisition, and hot trip testing for ICE and BEV platforms.
- Safety Performance Engineer: Lead safety development activities, crash regulatory testing, third-party ratings, physical/component testing, and CAE virtual validation assessments.
2. Powertrain, Emissions & Calibration Engineering
- OBD & Safety Diagnostic Calibration Engineer: Calibrate diagnostics (OBD II, CARB compliance), validate software strategy (Level 1/Level 2), support Torque Security, and drive ISO 26262 functional safety requirements.
- Development Test Engineer (Emissions & Aftertreatment): Evaluate gasoline engine/aftertreatment performance, conduct dyno and chassis testing, optimize calibrations, and manage global emission drive cycle standards (Tier 4, Euro 7, LEV IV).
3. Systems Engineering & Feature Management
- Feature Systems Engineer: Define, update, and track Customer Feature Objectives (CFOs), perform INCOSE requirements decomposition, and ensure alignment with ISO 26262 across Body, Chassis, and Electrical domains.
- SSTL / Service Designer for Program Management: Author, govern, and trace vehicle feature requirements across the product lifecycle, partner with validation teams, and perform competitive benchmarking.
4. Component & Materials Engineering
- Cluster DRE (Design Responsible Engineer): Oversee APQP deliverables, 3D model/packaging convergence, DFMEA/PFMEA, hardware/software/mechanical supplier reviews, GIM issue triaging, and FOTA/OTA updates.
- Coatings & Decorative Finish Materials Engineer: Lead automotive trim coatings and decorative finish technology development, create material specifications, and support OEM manufacturing and color development.
- Fastener Application Engineer: Provide technical expertise for fastener joint design, torque development, clamp-load/joint validation, laboratory testing, and assembly plant troubleshooting.
5. Quality, Reliability & Warranty Engineering
- Warranty Analysis Engineer (Transmission & Driveline / HVAC & Engine Systems): Conduct teardown and failure root-cause analysis (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA), evaluate returned field components, and support quality improvement initiatives.
- PMO Support Quality Specialist: Perform root cause analysis using advanced tools (Kepner-Tregoe, Shainin Red X, DOE), standardize manufacturing quality enablers, and drive third-party quality metrics.
Qualifications & Key Requirements
Basic / Mandatory Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, Systems, Chemical, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline from an ABET-accredited university.
- Experience: 1-10+ years of relevant automotive experience (varies by specific role track).
- Technical Skills:
- Solid understanding of vehicle architecture, mechanical/electrical systems, or manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with root cause analysis methodologies (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA/DFMEA).
- Proficiency with standard engineering platforms, diagnostics, data acquisition tools, or CAD/PLM systems depending on domain.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving, project management, technical writing, and cross-functional communication abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Engineering or related field.
- Direct experience with OEMs or Tier-1 automotive suppliers.
- Hands-on experience with electrified vehicle platforms (BEV/HEV) or advance propulsion systems.
- Working knowledge of ISO 26262, CARB/OBD regulations, or Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
