Position: Fab Technician - Journeyman (Backfill)
Location: Albany, NY 12203 (Onsite)
Type: Contract
Schedule: Alternating overnight shifts (onsite)
Position Overview
IBM Research is seeking a Journeyman Fab Technician to provide hands-on fab support for advanced semiconductor technology development. The technician will work closely with equipment owners, operators, and engineering teams to troubleshoot equipment issues, monitor process performance, and support engineering experiments.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot wafer force completes by reviewing equipment logs and alarms and coordinating with engineering.
- Analyze particle, metal contamination, etch rate, and deposition rate issues; collect data and document findings.
- Monitor wSPC/control charts and identify trends or potential process excursions.
- Provide hands-on equipment and fab support for engineering experiments.
- Participate in operations meetings and provide equipment status updates.
- Create/manage equipment recipes, monitors, tool inhibits, and exceptions.
- Maintain equipment procedures and help prevent process excursions.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or related field.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and time-management skills.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced fab environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year semiconductor fab experience.
- 1+ year equipment troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with or ability to learn SiView and web-based process control systems.
Work Schedule
- Week 1: Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat - 7:00 PM-7:30 AM
- Week 2: Sun, Wed, Thu - 7:00 PM-7:30 AM
Safety: Fabrication Unit (Fab) Safety Class required.
