Senior Process Automation Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Process Automation Engineer to provide technical leadership for industrial automation and control systems within a large-scale processing operation. This position will play a key role in ensuring the performance, reliability, security, and continuous improvement of Industrial Control Systems while providing technical direction to engineering teams and supporting major automation initiatives.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead Process Automation Engineering activities, providing technical direction, advanced troubleshooting, and guidance to engineers and other technical personnel supporting industrial control systems.
- Evaluate and improve automation hardware, software, control strategies, and related systems to increase reliability, operator effectiveness, and overall facility performance.
- Oversee the design, implementation, maintenance, and lifecycle management of Process Control Networks, Industrial Control Systems, process historians, and associated infrastructure.
- Review and provide technical guidance on engineering projects, system designs, technical proposals, budgets, and equipment lifecycle plans.
- Ensure automation systems align with established operational, safety, engineering, and industrial cybersecurity standards.
- Lead and support automation, instrumentation, and advanced control improvements designed to improve process efficiency, reliability, and overall plant performance.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, maintenance, IT/OT, and other technical teams on complex automation and control initiatives.
- Support industrial cybersecurity, safety, environmental, advanced control, and specialized analytical initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and other technical personnel.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline with 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, including at least 3 years working with regulatory and/or advanced control systems; or
- Master's degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline with 3+ years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years working with regulatory and/or advanced control systems.
- Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership, mentoring, supervision, or technical direction within an engineering, controls, or industrial automation environment.
- Strong knowledge of PLC, HMI, SCADA, and/or DCS technologies. Manufacturer training or certification is highly preferred.
- Experience with industrial control networks, Process Control Networks, Industrial Control Systems (ICS), communications architecture, and process historians or comparable data storage and retrieval platforms.
- Experience with industrial cybersecurity and the security considerations associated with operational technology (OT) environments.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
- Experience in mining, mineral processing, manufacturing, chemical processing, energy, or another complex industrial environment is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with NFPA 70, NEC requirements, or electrical trade practices is a plus.
